We offer transformative acupuncture to reduce pain (physical and emotional) and support the nervous system and whole being. We do not offer managed care or primary care. If we are a good fit, we can serve as an auxiliary person in your network. We are both certified herbalists and can bring herbal medicine into your treatment plan, along with bodywork and other Eastern Medicine modalities. Liz is also an educator on creative embodiment and offers virtual sessions to individuals and groups of artists and thinkers.

Liz is the creator and host of Body Land Metaphor Medicine, a free guided visualization resource on the podcast platform. Listen and get a sense of what it’s like to work with me. These are deep listening experiences that require time set aside in a still, quiet place. They can be listened to in bed for insomnia, via headphones on public transportation for self-regulation, in groups as a guided meditation with an integration discussion afterwards, and so on. They are not to be listened to while driving or multi-tasking. Listen on Spotify, Apple podcasts, Amazon Music, or download directly here on my website. Please share widely. These are a public offering. Seasons 1-4 are in English, and season 5 is en Español.

We are in-network with Providence, MODA, and Pacific Source. If we are out-of-network with your health insurance, you can pay up front and we will give you a superbill to send in to your insurance company so that they reimburse you directly. If the out-of-pocket cost prohibits you from coming in, please email us and let us know. If you are a community organizer for a BIPOC non-profit, you may receive up to four free sessions per year. Sign up under the BLM option for your free healthcare.

MEDICINE AND STORYTELLING

Have you ever had a month where it seems like everything falls like a stack of bricks blocking out your calendar? That was my October. I went to three different conferences/workshops, pretty much back to back, and started a new part-time job. (I'll tell you about it in a minute!) I went to a conference at OHSU on Narrative Medicine with several hundred providers, patients, caregivers, doctors, and artists. I attended a 5-day somatic practice workshop with FLOCK dancer/choreographer Tahni Holt called Sensation/Disorientation. And I attended Lidia Yuknavitch's magical, intimate, and verdant Corporeal Writing workshop for Fall on Extended Metaphor. (If you've collaborated with me in my office as a patient in a guided visualization, you know how I love to extend a metaphor!) I'd be happy to tell you about any of these amazing experiences at your next session. In each of these intensives new ideas and concepts traveled into my body and mind. I'm feeling as saturated as those autumn leaves on the trees right now! And, through exploring the metaphor of this blocked calendar as these bricks of activities, I'm starting to see new shapes form, like a staircase leading me to a different vantage point. I find one of the most therapeutic things I can do for myself is to broaden my view so I see a new and different perspective than the one I am used to.

How are you challenging your perspective lately? Is there a way in which you feel lodged or stuck? Could you imagine your body shifting so that you open up a new way to feel and see? Maybe I can help. In addition to acupuncture sessions in-office and on-location, I also offer phone calls in a pinch where you get a 10 minute customized guided visualizations on the phone for just $10. If you would like to explore the option of integrating metaphor into your body through your imagination, please send me an email or text to set up a phone call. Or, if you live in Portland, you can schedule a session (short, medium, or long) with me in-person.

Here's a visualization. Imagine your body as a dark quite respite. Really feel the darkness all the way into your toes, your fingers, and behind your eyes. Stay in this dark place a little while. Then, let your mind's eye begin to let color seep in to the black. Maybe it looks like aurora borealis, or paint seeping in, or the fill of autumn leaves...just let the colors come in and fill up some space within you. Imagine you can feel them in your body like flavors, scents, and textures. Encourage your body to experience the sensation of being imbued, revitalized, and restored.

So let me tell you about this new special place where I am working. It's a beautiful wellness clinic called Golden Hour where I'm spending Wednesdays and some Saturdays. Tucked away on SE Ash street just off MLK, Golden Hour offers private and affordable community chair sessions with massage and aromatherapy. Those of you in Portland can consider Golden Hour a resource to integrate into your self-care routine. Think of these as an addition to our sessions together––when you need a wellness boost, don't have anything specific to focus on, and are happy to get a generic protocol. At Golden Hour you are treated with de-stressing and immune boosting protocols that work the same for everyone. It's very different from coming into my office where I customize your session top to bottom and design the treatment to address your specific needs for pain, insomnia, stress, and so on. So, please, come see me as usual at my Montavilla office, and also consider scheduling additional sessions at Golden Hour with me or anyone on my team there at your convenience to give it a try! If you don't live in Portland, you can follow Golden Hour PDX on Instagram (they have great social media game)––and while you're there, make sure you're following Liz Greenhill Acupuncture too!

Sending all my best wishes your way,

Liz
